Midgie began studying Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2007. She received a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA). Before acupuncture school, She studied western herbalism with the Boston School of Herbal Studies and holistic health counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City.
While attending acupuncture school, Midgie interned at several clinics, including Dimock Community Health Center, Pathways to Wellness and the Elder Service Plan of the North Shore. During this time, she was also a staff member at the NESA Chinese Herbal Dispensary and was able to learn the many intricacies of herbal medicine and treatment. In addition to studying Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, she studied “Medical Qigong” with Paul Fraser, MAc, LicAc. and Master Ou, Wen Wei.
Midgie is committed to being an active member in the local wellness community, and over the years has been involved in various activities and health-related organizations. After the Boston Marathon Bombing, she volunteered for the Boston Acupuncture Trauma Relief organization. In 2011, Midgie completed a “Healing Community Trauma” training with Acupuncturists Without Borders. In 2010, she traveled to Uganda and volunteered as a trainer for the Pan African Acupuncture Project and in 2007, Midgie traveled to Mali, West Africa and volunteered as a nutrition assistant for the Build a School in Africa Project.
Midge states that she is a practitioner because she wants to help people discover the level of healing that she has come to know through her own personal experiences. It is at this deeper level where healing can begin. When working with patients, her focus is not only on helping them to relax and feel at ease, but she also pays close attention to their personal goals, often including options for diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications. Midgie is committed to helping to make acupuncture more widely acceptable as a viable form of healthcare. It is good medicine.
Midgie Franz offers a gentle style of acupuncture treatment, which may include a combination of herbal and dietary therapy. Treatments are drawn from comprehensive, in-depth training in Chinese style acupuncture, Chinese Herbal & Western Herbalism, and Holistic Health Counseling.
When Midgie works with patients, she focuses on making you, the patient, feel comfortable. Collaboration between patient and practitioner is extremely pivotal in the healing process, and so it is important for you to feel comfortable with your practitioner. Midgie’s goal is to help you feel better and to help you establish a lasting state of peace, balance and wellbeing. She will pay attention to your own personal goals and then make gentle, relevant suggestions for diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications based on your goals and drawing on her extensive experience as a health practitioner.
Now having a clinical focus on men’s health, Midgie treats erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, delayed ejaculation, prostate health, frequent, hesitant, urgent urination, stress, insomnia, anxiety. General health concerns of headaches, digestion and heart health as well as muscle and joint pain including sciatica can all be treated with acupuncture.
